Sightseeing at the the Lama Temple(雍和宫)
The lama temple is the largest and best-preserved lamasery in Beijng. Built in 1694 it was originally a residence for Prince Yongzheng before he ascended the throne. Later in 1744 his successor Emperor Qianlong rebuilt and converted the palace into a temple devoted to the cult of the living lama.

Beijing Zoo was first built in 1906 and opened to the public in 1908 with an area of about 10 hectares and a few humble pavilions to house and animals. At that time several dozens of species were shown, such as lions, tigers, leopards and monkeys.
