HARBIN

Sun Island Park
太阳岛公园

Located on the northern bank of Songhua River, Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province, China, the Sun Island Park is a grassland scenic spot featuring floodplain wetland. As for the origin of the Sun Island Park, there were once two sayings: one is that the Island is round and like a sun, so it is called Sun Island Park; the other is that hills on the island are all covered by clean silver sand, which will become quite hot under sunshine, hence its name.

The core area of Sun Island Park covers 15 square kilometers and is featured by cultural attractions and natural landscapes. It boasts many famous sights, such as Squirrel Island which is the favorite of children, Deer Park, Swan Lake, and Flower Park, etc. In which, the Deer Park raises more than 30 tamed spotted deer, enabling people not only to appreciate and approach deer, but also to experience the harmony of coexistence between mankind and animals on the one hand, and between animals and nature on the other. Besides, there are Russian flavor towns with Continental style, Russian Arts Exhibition Hall, and North China Folk Arts Exhibition Hall, as well as the world’s largest four-season indoor ice & snow art gallery, flowery Lotus Lake, Sino-Japan Friendship Park and Japanese-style Resort, versatile indoor and outdoor tennis clubs, diversified clove parks, towering Sun Hill, beautiful Sun Lake as well as the famous Water Pavilion and Cloud Sky echoing each other at a distance. In addition, the annual International Snow Sculpture Art Expo is held right here in Sun Island Park, which, as an important part of Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival, is very famous both at home and abroad.
